DETAILED TREATMENT LIST

Eyelid surgery
Procedure- Eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) is performed in order to correct any sagging for the eyelids. Puffy or drooping eyelids can be corrected as well as bags and bulges above and below the eyes. Eyelid surgery is most commonly an outpatient treatment, and is conducted under local anaesthesia. Please take into consideration that this procedure will not remove “crow’s feet” or dark circles beneath the eyes. Patients of Asian background should take into account that eyelid surgery could possibly add an extra crease in the eyelid. Following the operation patients must wear protective glasses. Patients may read only after 2-3 days, and may resume working after10 days. Make up can be reapplied after 10 days as well. Patients who normally wear contact lenses should be aware that wearing them should be avoided for the 2-3 weeks after the surgery. In rare occasions, patients may develop difficulty closing their eyes at night. This condition, however rare, could become permanent and would require a second corrective surgery.
Duration - 2 hours for both eyelids, 1.5 for the upper eyelid and 1 hour for the lower.
Anaesthesia - Local anaesthetic
Hospital stay - may leave the same day
Removal of stitches - 1 to 2 days after the surgery
Scar tissue healing period - 9 to 10 months.
Risks and side effects - Blepharoplasty boasts some of the best results in hidden scarring (under the eyelid), but temporary blurred or double vision, infection, bleeding, swelling at the corners of the eyelids, dry eyes, formation of white heads, slight asymmetry in healing or scarring, difficulty in closing eyes completely (rarely permanent), pulling down of the lower lids (may require further surgery) and retrobulbar haematoma may occur following the surgery. Ectropion is a very rare condition that may occur; it involves the drooping of the lower eyelid. This would require further surgery to correct the problem
Physical work/sports may be resumed approximately two to four weeks later.

Forehead lift
Procedure- The purpose of this procedure is to remove wrinkles by stretching sagging skin on the forehead. There are two ways to perform this procedure:
A) small incisions are made in strategic places around the forehead, just big enough to insert an endoscope.
B) Surgeons make incisions around the hair line and tighten the forehead muscles or even partially remove certain muscles in order to give the patient’s forehead a smoother and younger look.
This is by far the more conventional way. Forehead lifts are generally conducted in conjunction with a face lift which results in an overall refreshed, but forehead lifts can be done separately as well.
Duration - 1,5 - 2 hours.
Anaesthesia - general anaesthesia.
Hospital stay - same day leave or 1 night.
Risks and side effects - In rare cases the nerves can be damaged above the eyes, the ones responsible for raising the eyebrows or wrinkling the forehead. This can occur on both sides or just above one eye. Scar formation is rare enough as well, but it is also a complication. In this instance the scar would be removed resulting in a smaller scar. Along the hair line where the incisions were made, the hair may begin to fall out. This is not reversible. Temporary sensation loss is another side effect, most of the time sensation is regained, but there are times where it is permanent.
Physical work/sports can be done - Only after several weeks of rest. Any sort of physical activity that raises the blood pressure should be avoided. Excessive exposure to the sun should be avoided at all costs for the first few months.

Brow lift
Procedure - Depending on the patient’s individual facial structure, in most cases a brow lift is performed in orfer to correct drooping of the eye brows, sagging eyelids and even minimize wrinkles on the forehead. The methods are essentially the same as during a forehead lift procedure, only the incisions are made in a set of different places.
Duration - from 1,5 to 2 hours.
Anethesia - general anesthesia.
Hospital stay - same day leave or 1 night stay
