Is minimally invasive cosmetic surgery for you? 2009-11-14 09:07:41 | Source Americans got over 10 million plastic surgery procedures last year, up 11 percent from the year before. More of those procedures are minimally-invasive, which means no scalpel, so less pain and a quicker recovery! Plus, more and more of the patients who are getting these procedures are men and one procedure-- seems very guy-friendly. Sade Baderinwa has more. John Aslanian is among the growing number of men taking the plunge into plastic surgery. He's getting an eye lift. John Aslanian: "They are going to take a little fat from under the eyelid.." But no knives or scalpels for him. He's getting a laser eye lift. It's a minimally invasive procedure that's a specialty of Dr. Stephen Bosniak. Dr Stephen Bosniak: "It's a great tool because it allows us to perform surgery without bleeding. For most of our patients there will not be one drop of blood." Less pain, quicker recovery and more natural-looking too! Dr Bosniak says that appeals to men. Many, he says, want to look younger but aren't willing to go under the knife. Aslanian: "To me that is a whole 'nother world. I would never do anything invasive." Pierre Delerive agrees. He got a laser eye lift six months ago. Pierre Delerive, Eye Lift Patient: "One of the good things: Nobody, not even my children, nobody ever noticed it. Nobody said, 'You look different.'" The number of American men getting minimally invasive cosmetic procedures grew over 40-percent from 2000 to 2004. Dr. Bosniak sees it too: Men now make up half of his eye surgery practice. They're lured by the laser and its promise of youth with little pain, quick recovery and a more natural look. No knives needed!
