Injured Iraqi Boy To Get Fitted For Prosthetic Eye 2009-11-16 12:53:37 | Source This is a big day for the 8-year-old Iraqi boy who came to Pittsburgh for plastic and reconstructive surgery. Today, doctors at Children s Hospital fitted Abdul Hakim Ismael Hussein for a prosthetic eye. The child was injured when a U.S. mortar attack hit his home in Fallujah. His left eye was blinded and also has a damaged eyelid, socket, jaw and cheek. Abdul is expected to be in Pittsburgh for several months and is staying with a host family. The hospital will absorb half the cost of his stay, and three surgeons - Drs. Tonya Stefko, William Chung and Fred Deleyiannis - and Walter Tillman, who makes prosthetic eyes, have agreed to treat him for free. Massachusetts resident Ray Tye also gave $50,000 toward the boy's care. No More Victims, a Los Angeles-based group, is sponsoring the boy.
