"It is really worth the money...I have already read a good few chapters on
the train and I'm really enjoying it. There are lots of really great ideas and
I've found out a lot of things I wasn't too sure about. I've made lots of notes
all over it, and marked all the pages that I have found useful. I wasn't sure
how to go about reading it, but have opted for the
reading the whole thing from start to finish and it seems to have been the
best option rather than dipping in and out for reference as it has so many small
things that I wouldn't have thought about but are probably pretty important.
I also found it somewhat inspirational in parts as I keep thinking yayay, this
is my job now, this is what I do, and yes it's a lot of work but I can't wait to
get started!I'm sure I won't fail to keep referring to it."
An NQT
"Its fantastic... The main thing I have found to be of value so far is
that I'm looking at lots of different aspects of teaching from a different
angle. And I've identified a couple of bad habits that I need to address!
I've also chuckled in quite a few places.
I really do feel this is a handbook and that I'll be able to refer to it
throughout the next year whereas, with others, I've read them and put them on
the shelf."
A Primary NQT
"As a head of department at a large comprehensive I wholeheartedly
recommend this book to NQTs and anyone considering entering teaching. Ms. Holmes
has practical experience of the new teachers lot and this is demonstrated by the
topics she covers, they are all relevant and well presented and the narrative
concise.
If you want a head start in teaching and a taste of what's to come, read this
book!"

brilliant, tremendous, stupendous, exceptional...?"
"Logically separated into three sections: getting a job, joining a school,
and working through your induction, the Handbook talks the reader through their
induction year, always presenting practical advice and all the options open
